Seductive and dreamy muses by Audrey Kawasaki…
Born in Los Angeles in 1982, oil painter Audrey Kawasaki has not only become a rising star in the LA art community but also internationally. Thinkspace gallery currently showcased at SCOPE Basel Art Fair in Switzerland a solo exhibition of her gorgeous new pieces which was a big success.
Audrey paints with oil and graphite on wood panel. Her work is both innocent and erotic. Audrey’s precise technical style is at once influenced by both manga comics and Art Nouveau. The figures she paints are seductive and contain an air of melancholy. They exist in their own sensually esoteric realm, yet at the same time present a sense of accessibility that draws the observer to them. These mysterious young women captivate with the direct stare of their bedroom eyes.
Audrey’s beautiful, etheral paintings are mesmerizing, they speak to me and capture me … She is truly a great artist.
“Kawasaki’s new work takes on a psychedelic element as she culls symmetrical patterns from chrysanthemums, sea anemones and internal organs alike. The brains and intestines appear as beautiful and delicate as the flowers; Kawasaki’s ethereal style strips them of any morbidness.”
